THE PROCESS BEHIND WHYRED A/W 24 COLLECTION
AI — friend, foe, or simply another tool?
For me, it’s mainly the latter. I don’t see AI replacing taste, instinct or the small decisions that ultimately make a product feel right. That part still belongs to the designer.
Where I find it genuinely useful is in communicating an idea. Taking a sketch and quickly visualising it as a garment makes it easier to discuss proportion, material and overall direction before committing to a physical sample.
It can make the conversation around a product faster and clearer — and, used at the right stage, potentially reduce unnecessary sampling along the way.
The examples below use the same basic sketch with small alterations in material and execution, showing how one idea can quickly be explored in different directions.
